A Coastal Garden Wedding

In the beautiful month of June, J+J celebrated their wedding day in style at the famous Chanler Hotel situated at the beginning of the historic Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island. Working closely with the couple, and Erica Trombetti of Infinite events, we created a design plan that leaned into the gorgeous local flora of the Ocean State, while celebrating the freshness of spring blooms. Using coastal blues, whites, and greens, the overall design of the wedding was textural, yet lush leaning into garden-style design moments.

The ceremony took place in the picturesque garden at The Chanler, where we made an impressive first impact on the guests as they found their seats. The serpentine aisle was formed by lush, textural arrangements composed of organic trailing greenery, and bountiful blooms such as blue delphinium, viburnum, and queen anne’s lace. As the bride made her way down this flower-forward aisle, her husband-to-be was waiting at the altar. He stood surrounded by a beautiful floral story of organic arrangements spilling from wicker urns, pedestals, and baskets raised to different heights. This lush yet natural ceremony design set the perfect stage for J+J to start this next chapter of their lives together.

As the celebration moved into the tent, guests were wowed by the floral installation at the tent entry. Our team artfully designed this tent entry with floral varieties near and dear to the bride’s heart. Lush bountiful blooms of hydrangea, delphinium, and Bells of Ireland dripped from organic climbing foliage, to create the most perfect threshold to enter the reception tent. From the ceiling, a light & airy canopy of greenery hung brought the natural, garden feel inside. Tucked in the canopy of greens were rattan chandeliers that tied together the coastal ambience with a warm glow. Beneath this romantic canopy, we styled the tables using 3 separate concepts, creating a unique centerpiece design for each style of table.

The planning & design team thoughtfully curated the floorplan using different table shapes, linens, and centerpiece concepts to create visual interest and a unique guest experience at each table. The round tables boasted a bountiful arrangement composed of springs finest blooms on a cut-crystal compote surrounded by a trio of white taper candles and etched green votives, styled on top of a baby blue linen. The Square tables were covered in a soft sage linen, where we design a vignette of cut-crystal vases filled with mono-botanical florals and accented by glistening white taper candlelight. Lastly we created a stunning tablescape atop a white satin linen on the long tables, using spring florals such as tulips, hellebore, and peonies to create mon-botanical vase arrangements. For these tables, we used a series of sage taper candles and etched green votives to add height and a warm glow to the tablescape.

The sweetheart table stood out in the tent, with a gorgeous, organic garden growing around the base of the table. On the table-top were darling vases overflowing with spring’s finest florals, including some that we grew right at our studio! Seeing all the centerpiece concepts and the overall vision come together was beautiful, and our team was so happy to have been a part of it. We love when we can design with locally grown and seasonally sourced blooms, and it was our pleasure to celebrate the natural beauty found right here in Rhode Island for J+J’s special day!
