‘Till Death Do We Part

Fall weddings are becoming increasingly more popular over the years, and October has won itself the title of most popular wedding month, with a whopping 20% of all weddings in 2022 occurring in October! Of those couples who chose to make October their month of marriage, some choose a classic fall palette, while others embrace the moodiness and dark romance of the Halloween season. When C+J tied the knot on an early October eve, they went for a deep, bold, romantic color palette that sent a shiver down their guest’s spines.

In collaboration with the talented Erica D’Ambra, our team worked closely with the couple to curate a deep and striking event design that was reminiscent of a Baroque painting by Rembrandt. A color palette of dark & velvety tones of burgundy, maroon, deep purple, and dark greens paired with abundant, incandescent, candlelight evoked emotion through the natural beauty and art form of the tablescapes. The overall design feeling was overgrown, organic, and lush, to give the impression that the greenery and florals had always grown there.

The wedding ceremony took place in front of an artfully deconstructed arbor, overflowing with dark gorgeous layers of flowers and spilling greenery & vines. Rich, deep red roses and burgundy dahlia created lush, contrasted layers in the asymmetrical arbor. Lighter, more textural accents such as chocolate Queen Anne’s Lace and plumosa, added to the overall organic feel of the arbor. White anemone, a favorite flower of the couple, was tucked into the arbor to add the perfect touch of white against the rich color palette.

The moody romantic ambiance transferred seamlessly to the reception tent, where tasteful, yet spooky accents of skulls illuminated with candlelight were styled throughout the tablescapes. Striking black candelabras were a staple in the design of the head table, and provided the tent with a warm romantic glow. Gorgeous spilling arrangements of lush, dark blooms layered with foliage & natural movement were styled between the candelabras and skulls on the head table. The guest tables were adorned in equally moody style, designed with a lush modern compote, overflowing with velvety maroon blooms and touches of fun foliage adding to the overall dark romantic vibe of the evening.

All in all, the evening was a picturesque October soiree for the couple, surrounded by their loved ones. The depth and contrast of the color palette created and intimate environment, enhanced by the cozy candlelight, to celebrate C+J ‘till death do they part. Our team was so excited to work on this design plan for the couple, as it’s not every day you get to bring black & skulls to a wedding! We are entering into this October with fond memories, and heartfelt wishes to the happy couple, who are celebrating their first anniversary this week! We are grateful to have been a part of their special day, and to be in an industry where our creativity is constantly challenged and celebrated.
